I  launched an innovative new agency in 2007 that benefits massage therapists, visitors to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and the inn keepers who provide services for them.

I invited Massage therapists from Nova Scotia and the rest of Canada to come for a working holiday during the busy tourist season to share their gift of touch with the thousands of visitors to our beautiful Island.

I  invite massage therapists to be part of the team of independent contractors who will travel around the island and provide massages for one or more establishments. They will share their gift of touch with the many visitors who are sore and achy from driving, hiking, biking and who are staying at remote locations where there are no resident therapists.

Join our team of Massage Therapists who provide massage to our network of Bed & Breakfasts, Hotels and Resorts while exploring the island which National Geographic has voted the 2nd most beautiful destination in the world… Cape Breton Island!

Your mission should you decide to accept it:

• Provide table massage in our network of tourist accommodations
• Provide chair massage at events all over the island including tourist attractions and concerts
• Come and provide massage for a few days or a few months
• Choose your days and times to work
• Option to work on call at numerous establishments or partner with just one
• Enjoy the tourist attractions, beaches, trails and natural beauty between appointments. Choose to stay at a guest lodge, hostel or campground by your own arrangement

Your qualifications and requirements:

• Massage Therapist with two year training completed
• Independent contractors with full liability insurance
• Personal vehicle, massage equipment, table or chair, and non-staining oils, lotion
• Cellular Phone or Pager and Answering Service to connect with our Booking Agencies
• Adventurous, flexible, lot’s of initiative, love of massage, travel and meeting people
• Cell phone or Laptop to access appointment book or alternatively use public internet access services
• Option to upgrade your skills with classes in Hot Stone and Chair Massage.

2. Visitor Accommodations: B&B’s Hotels, Motels, Lodges, Inns and Resorts

Innovative Mobile Massage Agency to provide therapeutic massage to travelers at their vacation destination…

Wouldn’t you love to be able to offer your guests a relaxing massage in addition to the wonderful accommodations you provide?

Wouldn’t it be great to have a rejuvenating massage yourself during the busy tourist season!

This is an invitation to proprietors of tourist accommodations all over Cape Breton Island to work in association with an innovative Massage Agency, Blissful Mobile Massage

By participating in this network you will be able to offer massage to your guests in the privacy of their rooms or a dedicated Massage Room if space allows. There is no membership fee and you can actually increase your earnings from commissions for the service.

The Agency will provide prescreened experienced professional insured Registered Massage Therapists who work as independent contractors and travel to various locations to provide on-site massage. These massage therapists are invited to come to the Island on a seasonal basis. They will provide massage for the many tourists who really need it after hiking, biking, kayaking and driving long hours on our winding highways.

Many of our visitors are accustomed to receiving massage regularly at home, at work and when they are vacationing in other popular tourist destinations. Visitors currently have a choice of hundreds of places to stay but only a few offer massage (5 out of 250!).

All that is required to participate are:

• Guest rooms large enough to allow set up of a massage table, minimum 9 feet by 6 feet of open space or a designated room to provide massage. We will also offer chair massage, which uses a smaller space to set up, about 4x4 ft.
• Option to provide clean linens, sheets and towels for a fee to therapists who use non-staining oils/lotions
• Option to to receive a fee for taking payment of the service and paying out commissions.

Pamella O’Dea a Registered Massage Therapist (R.M.T.) with 20 years experience was born on Cape Breton Island and returns home from San Francisco each summer to be a Massage Missionary! She sees the growing need to bring massage service offerings up to the standard which exist in other world class destinations and is currently developing an agency to provide those services Island wide. She is an international teacher specializing in Hot Stone Massage.

3. Heavenly Hosts Invitation

An exciting element of this innovative project is that local residents known for their hospitality will be invited to participate and be rewarded with massage by billeting therapists in their homes. This idea is  still evolving and I cannot guarantee lodging for traveling therapists but I may be able to  assist them in finding  affordable places to stay!

Participation could be once in a while or all season long! Can you imagine getting a massage whenever you want one this summer? Bob Hope said if you get a massage every day of your life you’ll live to be 100... and he did!

To be eligible you need to be able to provide a clean well maintained private room(s) with basic amenities, a comfortable bed and washroom access. No meals are required - traveling massage therapists just need a bed to lay their head in exchange for a rejuvenating, relaxing massage. References are required.

Pam O’Dea is the Founder of this unique business, which provides work for traveling therapists while they enjoy a sightseeing adventure. She is originally from Cape Breton Island and currently divides her time between California and Cape Breton Island. Truly a “Massage Missionary”, she is grateful to be able to share her love of massage and teaching and provide opportunities for other therapists to combine their love of massage with travel. She is a Registered Massage Therapist who graduated in 1991 from Sutherland-Chan’s two-year massage program in Toronto. She is a Certified Instructor at The School of Shiatsu and Massage at Harbin Hot Springs in California.
